Srinagar, June 30 (KNO): Two militants affiliated with the Islamic State of J&K were killed in an encounter that broke out today in Waghama area of Bijbehara in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district Tuesday morning. Police said the two slain militants had accompanied was Zahid Dass, of ISJK, who was involved in the recent firing incident at Bijbehara, Anantnag in which a CRPF man and a five-year-old boy were killed. Today’s encounter was the second encounter in last 24-hours in southern Anatnang district. Yesterday, three militants including the last surviving militant from Doda district, were killed in Runipora, Anantnag. Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Kashmir range, Vijay Kumar told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that that two slain militants along with Zahid were involved in the recent attack in Bijbehara, where a CRPF man and a minor boy were killed. Acting on a specific tip-off about the presence of militants in Bijbheara, joint teams of security forces, Army, police and CRPF launched a cordon early morning today. “When the forces zeroed in on a suspected spot, the hiding militants opened fire at the forces triggering an encounter,” an official said, adding that security forces while following the proper Standard Operating Procedure (SoP), performed professionally and in the ensuing gunfight, two militants were killed. The identity of the militants is being ascertained and it is believed that they are locals affiliated with the J&K Islamic State. With the killing of two more militants today, the total number of slain militants killed this year in Kashmir have reached 128. This month, police said, 48, militants were killed alone—(KNO)
